Sulforaphane – role in aging and neurodegeneration

This 2019 review explores sulforaphane (SFN), an isothiocyanate derived from cruciferous vegetables, highlighting its potential in mitigating aging and neurodegenerative processes. SFN activates the Nrf2 pathway, enhancing antioxidant responses, and inhibits NF-κB, reducing inflammation. It also exhibits epigenetic effects by inhibiting histone deacetylases and DNA methyltransferases, and modulates mitochondrial dynamics.
