This 2014 study explores how pharmacological doses of ascorbate (vitamin C) impact the epigenetic landscape of human metastatic melanoma cells. Researchers found that high concentrations of ascorbate (8 mM) significantly inhibited DNA methyltransferase (DNMT) activity but had no effect on histone deacetylase (HDAC) function.
