This 1994 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial published in Archives of Dermatology (PMID: 8129407) evaluated the safety and efficacy of 2% topical minoxidil in 308 women with androgenetic alopecia over 32 weeks. Women treated with minoxidil showed a statistically significant increase in non-vellus hair count (23 hairs/cm² vs. 11 in placebo),
