Burden of Higher Lead Exposure in African-Americans Starts In Utero and Persists into Childhood

This study, published in Environmental International (2017), investigates racial disparities in lead exposure by analyzing deciduous teeth from 94 children in Detroit, Michigan. Utilizing laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, researchers measured lead concentrations in prenatal and early postnatal dentine layers. Findings revealed that African-American children had significantly higher lead
