This review examines findings from the Heart and Estrogen/progestin Replacement Study 2 (HERS2) and the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) regarding postmenopausal hormone therapy (HRT). The studies revealed an increased risk of invasive breast cancer (26%) and coronary heart disease (29%) among HRT users, leading to a reevaluation of its use.
