Randomized Trial on Comparison of the Efficacy of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy and Dry Needling in Myofascial Trigger Points

This 2019 randomized controlled trial compared the efficacy of radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy (rESWT) and dry needling (DN) in treating myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) in the upper trapezius muscle. Sixty-five patients were randomly assigned to either the rESWT group (n=32) or the DN group (n=33), receiving three weekly treatments.
