This 1978 study investigated the effects of polyunsaturated phosphatidylcholine (PPC) infusion on red blood cell (RBC) membrane composition in patients with liver cirrhosis exhibiting spur cell anemia. Eight patients received 2 g/day of PPC for five days. Post-infusion results showed a decrease in the cholesterol-to-phospholipid molar ratio in RBC membranes
