Preventing the return of fear using reconsolidation updating and methylene blue is differentially dependent on extinction learning
This animal study explored how reconsolidation updating, a behavioral technique, and methylene blue (MB), a metabolic enhancer, could prevent the return of conditioned fear responses in rats. Reconsolidation updating broadly reduced fear reinstatement, while MB was effective specifically in rats responsive to extinction learning. These findings suggest potential clinical strategies
