Multicenter, Placebo-Controlled Trial of Lorcaserin for Weight Management
This 2010 double-blind, randomized controlled trial (BLOOM) evaluated the efficacy and safety of lorcaserin, a selective 5-HT₂C receptor agonist, in 3,182 overweight or obese adults over 52 weeks. Participants received lorcaserin 10 mg twice daily or placebo, alongside lifestyle counseling. At 1 year, 47.5% of the lorcaserin group lost ≥5%
